Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my new cotton rug shedding fibers?

Shedding is a normal characteristic of high-quality, 100% natural cotton rugs. During production, tiny loose fibers remain in the pile. After unpacking, lay the rug flat for 2–3 days, then gently vacuum on a low-suction setting without a beater bar. The shedding will naturally subside over a few weeks.

Does this rug require a rug pad?

Yes. Because our washable rugs are lightweight and flexible to fit inside a washing machine, they do not have a stiff backing. We strongly recommend using a non-slip underlay to prevent sliding, curling, or bunching on hardwood, laminate, or tile floors.

Is it safe for crawling babies?

Absolutely. It is handcrafted using 100% natural fibers and non-toxic dyes, making it completely hypoallergenic and safe for newborns, infants, and pets.

Touched by seeing children whose future is determined by their family's economic circumstances, Lorena Canals decided to offer her own social support by giving them access to education. This is how the Sakûla Project was born, a nursery school in the north of India where street children can receive food and education. There are currently 120 children attending the school and counting.
