Our rugs stand for solidarity. Touched by seeing children whose future is determined by their family's economic circumstances, Lorena Canals decided to offer her own social support by giving them access to education. This is how the Sakûla Project was born, a nursery school in the north of India where street children can receive food and education. There are currently 120 children attending the school and counting.
If you own one of our signature home rugs, you know it is a one-of-a-kind piece. Because it is handcrafted by Indian artisans and not the result of mass production. Each Lorena Canals product is carefully handcrafted by our artisans in our own factory in India using ancestral craft techniques. I really, really wanted to love this, but it's very thin and resembles a blanket more than a rug. For comparison I just bought a king size 100% cotton coverlet for my bed and it was about $60 on sale. There's no remarkable quality or thickness difference. The return policy is also really bad so you're stuck with an expensive floor blanket unless you're willing to take the loss on shipping and restocking something that seems deceptively nicer than it is.

I love this rug so much so far! The only issue I have has is vacuuming it because the rug pulls up with the vacuum, but otherwise I am very happy with the look, washability, and feel of this rug. You really get your money worth with the price!
