Throw Pillows for Home

How to Choose a Throw Pillow

Check the pillow’s dimensions, shape, material and care instructions before ordering. Square pillows provide a balanced base for most arrangements, while rectangular designs can be positioned in front for additional support or contrast.

The collection includes several representative formats:

Throw pillow size - Recommended use

1' 6" x 1' 6" - Standard square format for sofas, armchairs and beds

1' x 1' 8" - Rectangular accent or lumbar pillow

1' 7" x 1' 7" - Larger square format for spacious sofas and beds

Dimensions vary by design. Check the individual product page for the exact measurement and confirm whether the filler is included or removable.

Throw Pillows for Sofas and Armchairs

Start with one or two square pillows that relate to an existing color in the rug, furniture or surrounding textiles. Add a rectangular pillow if the seat is deep or if the arrangement needs a different proportion.

Combine textures carefully. A handloom cotton pillow can provide a more defined woven surface, while a wool design introduces a thicker pile. Using different textures in a limited color range helps distinguish each pillow without making the arrangement difficult to coordinate.

Avoid placing so many pillows on a sofa that the usable seating area becomes restricted.

Decorative Pillows for Beds

Place larger square pillows behind smaller rectangular designs to create a clear arrangement. Compare the width of the bed with the combined width of the pillows before selecting a set.

Throw pillows are intended primarily as decorative cushions and for secondary support. They should not replace pillows designed specifically for sleeping.

Cotton, Wool and Handloom Throw Pillows

Composition varies across the collection.

Selected handloom pillows are made mainly from cotton. Their fabric is created on a manually operated loom, with each thread positioned and woven by artisans without the use of electricity. Slight differences in texture and appearance may occur as a result of this process.

Selected wool throw pillows feature wool pile on a recycled cotton base. Other designs use knitted cotton or stonewashed cotton fabrics. Check the composition listed on each product page, as not every pillow uses the same outer material or filling.

Many designs include a polyester filler, but whether it is removable depends on the construction of the pillow.

Handcrafted Decorative Pillows

Lorena Canals throw pillows are handcrafted by artisans in the brand’s own factory in India using traditional techniques. Small variations in dimensions, texture and color are normal characteristics of artisanal production.

Handloom, knitted, tufted and stonewashed finishes should not be expected to look identical. Review the product photographs and description to understand the specific surface and construction of each design.

How to Wash a Throw Pillow

Always follow the instructions for the selected model. The cover, wool pile and filler may require different care.

For machine-washable designs:

• Wash separately at a maximum temperature of 86 °F.
• Use a gentle cycle without a central agitator.
• Do not use bleach or fabric softener.
• Remove the pillow or cover when the cycle finishes.
• Tumble dry at a low temperature only when permitted.
• Avoid continuous exposure to direct sunlight.

When the filler is removable and marked as non-washable, take it out before washing the cover. Do not assume that the entire pillow can be washed unless the product instructions confirm it.

Frequently Asked Questions About Throw Pillows

Do Lorena Canals throw pillows include an insert?

Many designs are supplied with a filler, but the construction varies. Check the product description to confirm whether the insert is included and whether it can be removed.

Are the throw pillows machine washable?

Many Lorena Canals throw pillows or removable covers are machine washable. However, temperature, drying and filler instructions vary by model. Always consult the care label before washing.

What is the difference between cotton and wool throw pillows?

Cotton pillows provide a lighter textile surface and may feature knitted, woven or stonewashed finishes. Wool pillows have a denser pile and more pronounced texture. Compare the composition and care requirements before choosing.

Can square and rectangular throw pillows be combined?

Yes. Use square pillows as the main layer and place a rectangular pillow in front. Check the furniture dimensions to avoid overcrowding the seat or bed.
